Jim Ortlieb is an American actor born on June 19, 1956, in Hazlet, New Jersey, whose work spans film, television, and theatre. He is recognized for his television roles in Roswell and Felicity.
Ortlieb grew up in Hazlet and graduated from Raritan High School in 1974. He enrolled at Glassboro State College, now known as Rowan University, with plans to study music and play soccer. An injury sustained during one of the first days of team practice ended his athletic pursuits, and he turned to acting instead. He later completed a degree in drama from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
His Broadway career spans 2007 to 2014 and includes four productions. Ortlieb appeared in Of Mice and Men and Guys and Dolls, as well as The Farnsworth Invention and Billy Elliot: The Musical. In addition to his stage work, he has built a screen career that includes roles in the television series Roswell and Felicity.
