About

Jim Fyfe is an American actor, writer, theatre director, acting coach, and educator originally from Haddon Township, New Jersey. His career has spanned stage, television, and film, as well as decades of work in education and media production.

Fyfe's Broadway career ran from 1985 to 1996 and included appearances in A Thousand Clowns, Artist Descending a Staircase, Legs Diamond, and Biloxi Blues. Beyond the stage, he built a substantial presence in television and film, with credits that include Dark Shadows, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The X-Files, and Law and Order. He also appeared in The Frighteners, the film directed by Peter Jackson. Younger audiences encountered him through HBO's Encyclopedia and as co-host of The Dr. Fad Show, which starred Ken Hakuta and aired from 1988 to 1989. In the late 1980s, Fyfe also appeared as himself in the Buy Me That! series of specials, which were designed to teach children how television commercials can misrepresent products through techniques such as exaggeration and product placement. A second installment, Buy Me That Too, continued that work.

In 2003, Fyfe joined Rockland Country Day School in Congers, New York, where he began as a history teacher. Over time he took on a succession of administrative roles at the school, serving as Admissions Director, Assistant Headmaster, Upper Division Head, and Operations Administrator, while continuing to teach history. In 2015, he began working as a producer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS, collaborating alongside the comedic television host. Since 2017, Fyfe has taught at EF International Academy and Homestead CCHS in Hurleyville, New York.
