Jesse Nager

Jesse Nager, born June 23, 1981, is an American actor and singer whose Broadway career spanned from 2001 to 2016. He is also the founder and artistic director of The Broadway Boys, a New York-based tenor ensemble that blends funk, gospel, pop, and rock with traditional showtunes, and is a member of Broadway Inspirational Voices.

Nager pursued theatrical training at LaGuardia High School before earning a degree from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in 2003. He made his Broadway debut in Mamma Mia in 2004, and subsequently appeared in the original Broadway casts of Good Vibrations (2005), Mary Poppins (2006), Scandalous (2012), and Motown: The Musical (2013), in which he starred. His regional theater work includes productions of Fame on 42nd Street, Once on This Island, A Little Princess, and Stephen Sondheim's Being Alive, the last of which was directed by Billy Porter. He also participated in workshops for Rocky the Musical, Leap of Faith, Aladdin, and The Broadway Boys: Live in Concert.

Beyond Broadway, Nager toured nationally in Xanadu and reprised his role in Motown: The Musical on its First National Tour, playing musician Smokey Robinson. He has shared the stage with artists including Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, Jason Mraz, Debbie Gibson, and Patti LaBelle.

Nager's recorded credits include the original cast recordings of Fame on 42nd Street (2003), A Little Princess (2011), Scandalous (2013), and Motown (2013), as well as two albums with The Broadway Boys: Lullaby of Broadway (2010) and Hark! (2010). His father is African-American and his mother is Caucasian, and he was raised Jewish.
