About

Jennifer Mudge is an American stage and television actress born on August 16, 1978, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She pursued her training at Rhode Island College before completing a Master of Fine Arts in Acting through the conservatory program at Trinity Repertory Company.

Mudge launched her professional career in 2003, making her screen debut in an episode of Hack and her off-Broadway debut at 59E59 Theaters in The Stendhal Syndrome, a Terrence McNally play featuring Richard Thomas and Isabella Rossellini. Her off-Broadway work expanded to include a range of productions and companies: she played Lula opposite Dulé Hill in Dutchman, earning a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Play; appeared in Fault Lines with Josh Lucas and Noah Emmerich; and took part in The Geometry of Fire, The Pavilion, and Only the End of the World with Michael Emerson. Additional off-Broadway credits include Ooorah! at the Atlantic Theatre Company, The Big Meal at Playwrights Horizons, and Don't Go Gentle with Michael Cristofer.

Her Broadway career spans 2004 to 2014. She appeared in The Philanthropist alongside Matthew Broderick and Steven Weber, and in 2014 originated the role of Gloria in the Broadway production of Rocky, a part written specifically for that production. Also in 2014, Mudge reunited with Fiasco Theatre for a remounted production of Into the Woods at Roundabout Theatre, reprising the role of the Witch in a run that continued into 2015. That performance earned her a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. Her Broadway credits also include Reckless. She subsequently appeared in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Of Good Stock with Alicia Silverstone.

On television, Mudge played Debra Whitehead in the first season of Boss in 2011. Beginning in 2019, she became a recurring presence with Molière in the Park, participating in productions including the inaugural event, The Misanthrope, Tartuffe, and The Learned Ladies. Mudge married actor Chris Henry Coffey in 2014.
