Jenna Lamia is an American actress, writer, producer, and audiobook narrator originally from Washington, D.C. Her career spans Broadway, television, film, audiobook narration, and television production.
Lamia launched her acting career in New York City, making her Broadway debut in 1998 in Eugene O'Neill's Ah, Wilderness! at Lincoln Center. She subsequently built an extensive performance résumé that includes more than 30 television shows and feature films, as well as additional stage work both on and off-Broadway. Among her notable screen acting credits are the role of Sherri Ward in the 2010 film The Fighter alongside Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, Siobhan Miller in Law and Order: SVU, Carrie Schillinger in Oz, and Poppy Downes in Comedy Central's Strangers With Candy with Amy Sedaris. Beginning in 2021, she has played Judy Cooper in the Syfy series Resident Alien, starring Alan Tudyk, for which she has also contributed as a writer on select episodes. Her work in performance has additionally encompassed voice roles in video games and animated projects for film and television.
Parallel to her acting work, Lamia established herself as an audiobook narrator, earning multiple Golden Earphones Awards from AudioFile magazine. In 2010, the Audio Publishers Association named her Female Narrator of the Year, and she won the Audie Award for Best Solo Narration — Female for her recording of The Chosen One. That same year, her narration of the character Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan in The Help contributed to that title winning best fiction audiobook of the year. A decade later, in 2020, she received an additional Audie Award as part of the ensemble cast of Jarrett Krozocska's Hey, Kiddo.
Lamia's career in writing and producing began in 2006 when she sold her first feature screenplay, All About Me, to New Line Cinema. She subsequently joined the writing staff of The CW's 90210, and went on to write, produce, and act in Awkward. In 2016 she began writing and producing the dramedy No Tomorrow, and in 2017 she joined Good Girls for NBC as a writer and co-executive producer. She adapted Grady Hendrix's 2016 novel into the feature film My Best Friend's Exorcism, with production beginning in April 2021.
Lamia developed and served as showrunner on the Netflix limited series The Perfect Couple, an adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand's New York Times bestselling novel. All six episodes were released in September 2024, with a cast that includes Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Eve Hewson, Billy Howle, Meghann Fahy, Ishaan Khatter, Donna-Lynn Champlin, and Michael Beech. The series became the most-watched American debut series on Netflix in all of 2024 and the second most-watched debut series worldwide that year.
