About
Jeff Mooring is an American retired actor born in Norfolk, Virginia. He attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts before relocating to New York City, where he pursued additional training in dance at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
Early in his career, Mooring worked as a backup dancer and singer for Mexican pop singer Celi Bee. He also toured with Broadway productions including West Side Story, Swing!, and Evita. His Broadway appearance in Evita is documented as having taken place in 1982.
Mooring subsequently transitioned to television work, beginning with a small role on The Cosby Show. He went on to appear in a number of additional television series, including Murphy Brown, The Nanny, The Hit List, and The West Wing. He is perhaps best known to television audiences for his recurring role as Dave on the series Sports Night.
