About

Jeff David (September 16, 1940 – March 25, 2008) was an American actor and stage director who worked across theater, television, and voice performance. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he built his career primarily in New York, where he began performing in stage productions.

David's theatrical work spanned a range of venues and companies. He appeared in multiple seasons of the Champlain Shakespeare Festival in the early 1960s, at one point departing from the Lincoln Center Repertory Theater and declining other New York opportunities in order to return to the festival in 1966. His stage credits included performances at the McCarter Theatre and the Vivian Beaumont Theater, as well as a role in The Lost Colony at the Waterside Theatre in Manteo, North Carolina. On Broadway, he appeared in the 1965 comedy The Country Wife. Beyond performing, David also worked as a stage director, with directing credits at venues including the Pittsburgh Playhouse.

His screen career began in 1971 with an appearance in the film Some of My Best Friends Are.... During the same period he began voiceover work for television advertisements. He went on to guest-star in several television series, among them The Six Million Dollar Man, Switch, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, Hawaii Five-O, and The Rockford Files. His voice work in animation included additional voices for the series Jana of the Jungle and Spider-Man, the character Captain Carl Majors in Godzilla, and the robot character Crichton in the second season of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

David died on March 25, 2008, of a heart attack in New York. He was 67 years old.
