Jean-Claude Michel was a French actor born in Paris, France, in 1925, who died in 1999. He built a career that spanned both stage and screen work across France and the United States.
Michel appeared on Broadway in 1952, performing in four productions: Occupe-toi d'Amelie, Hamlet, Amphitryon 38, and Le Proces.
In France, Michel became widely recognized as a voice actor specializing in dubbing American and international film stars. He served as the primary French voice for Sean Connery and Clint Eastwood across the majority of their films. His dubbing work extended to numerous other prominent actors, among them Charlton Heston, Rock Hudson, Vittorio Gassman, Leslie Nielsen, and Robert Mitchum.
His vocal performance dubbing Charlton Heston in Ben-Hur drew direct recognition from Heston himself. In 1960, Heston wrote Michel a letter expressing praise for that work.
