About

Janine DiVita is an American actress whose Broadway career has spanned from 2007 to 2019, encompassing productions including Jagged Little Pill, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Anything Goes, Finding Neverland, and If/Then. A graduate of the University of Michigan, where she double majored in musical theatre and communication studies, DiVita is the only alumna of that institution to have received both the inaugural Alan Eisenberg / Actor's Equity Association Award for achievement in musical theater and the Earl V. Moore Award for achievement in musical theatre.

Among her Broadway credits, DiVita appeared in the revival of Grease directed by Kathleen Marshall, in which she played Rizzo. In Anything Goes she served as the Reno cover, and in The Mystery of Edwin Drood she was the sole cover for both Edwin Drood and Rosa Bud. Her national touring work has been equally extensive. She played Elizabeth in the first national tour of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, directed by Susan Stroman, and Mary Barrie in the first national tour of Finding Neverland, directed by Diane Paulus. In the Michael Greif-directed first national tour of If/Then, DiVita took on the principal role of Anne, a part originated by Jenn Colella, performing opposite LaChanze in the first leg of the tour and later alongside Tamyra Gray.

Off-Broadway, DiVita played Pearl Kantrowitz in the stage adaptation of A Walk on the Moon, directed by Michael Greif for New York Stage and Film, and Hannie in Roadside at the York Theatre Company. Her regional theater work includes Nancy in Oliver! at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, a performance for which she received a Barrymore Award nomination for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Musical, as well as Eva Perón in Evita.

DiVita has performed concert work with the Atlanta Symphony, Edmonton Symphony, and Omaha Symphony, and has appeared at venues including Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, Foxwoods Casino, Casino Rama in Canada, and 54 Below, where she premiered two solo shows, Blonde Ammunition and Lit: Modern Broad. She has also participated in national and international tours of Broadway Rox.

On television, DiVita appears in seasons two and three of The Deuce opposite Luke Kirby, and has additional credits on The Americans and Elementary. She plays Jennifer in the Amazon production Gravesend and appeared as a guest artist on the PBS special This Is the Moment with Irish tenor Paul Byrom, performing the duet Somewhere, directed by Brent Carpenter. In film, she plays the supporting role of Sally in Boychoir, directed by Francois Gerard, opposite Josh Lucas and Dustin Hoffman.

Beyond performing, DiVita serves as director of the USO Show Troupe and is co-founder of Empowered Voices, a prevention education company. She is also an ambassador for Global Citizen. During her time at the University of Michigan, she was a reporter for WOLV-TV and a member of Alpha Phi sorority.
