About
Janet De Gore (November 19, 1930 – June 11, 2022) was an American actress who worked in both theatre and television across a career spanning roughly sixteen years. Born in Larchmont, New York, she began performing on Broadway in 1950 and remained active on stage through 1952.
De Gore launched her Broadway career in 1950 with a role in The Member of the Wedding, playing the character Janice. She also appeared on Broadway in The Time of the Cuckoo during her stage career, which concluded in 1952.
Following her work on Broadway, De Gore built a substantial television presence. She took on a recurring role in the legal drama series The Law and Mr. Jones, portraying Marsha Spear, the secretary to the title character. Her television appearances also included guest roles on The Real McCoys, 77 Sunset Strip, Sugarfoot, Perry Mason, Branded, The Farmer's Daughter, and The Outer Limits. She retired from performing in 1966, with the Western series Bonanza serving as her final television credit.
De Gore died on June 11, 2022, in New York, at the age of 91.
