Jan Sherwood, born Jeanne Marie Jackson around 1923 in Madison, Wisconsin, is an American actress whose career centered primarily on stage work. She married J. Sherwood Weber in New York City in 1943, the year before her Broadway debut.
Sherwood's Broadway career spanned from 1944 to 1956. She made her first appearance on Broadway in 1944, taking on the role of Marpha in The Day Will Come. Six years later, she returned to Broadway in William Shakespeare's As You Like It, playing the Lady in Waiting to Katharine Hepburn's Rosalind. In 1952, she appeared in the original production of Paint Your Wagon as Sarah Woodling, and in 1954 she originated the role of Venus in the musical Ondine.
In 1956, Sherwood assumed the role of Ninotchka in Silk Stockings and subsequently traveled across the United States performing that role during the production's first national tour. That same year, she appeared in the short-lived DuMont Television Network series Monodrama Theater.
Later in life, Sherwood married George Marks, a Canadian business executive. The family, including their children, resided in Florida before relocating to the United Kingdom and eventually to Canada.
