About
Jamie-Lynn Sigler is an American actress and singer born on May 15, 1981, in Jericho, New York, where she was raised alongside two older brothers, Adam and Brian. Her father, Steve Sigler, founded the Men's Senior Baseball League, and her mother, Connie, was raised Catholic before converting to Judaism upon marriage. Sigler is of Greek-Jewish and Romanian-Jewish descent on her father's side and of Cuban descent through her mother. She attended Jericho High School and trained at the Cultural Arts Playhouse in Old Bethpage, New York.
Sigler began her Broadway career in 1994, accumulating stage credits that included Cinderella and the musical The Sleeping Beauty and the Beast before her Broadway tenure concluded in 2000. She subsequently took on the title role in Cinderella on tour and at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in 2001, and from October 2002 through February 2003 she played Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, a run spanning five months.
Her most prominent screen role came when she was cast in 1997 as Meadow Soprano, the daughter of New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano, on the HBO series The Sopranos. She held that role through the series finale in 2007. In 2004, she starred as Heidi Fleiss in the USA Network television film Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss and appeared in the independent feature film Extreme Dating. Film roles in Love Wrecked followed in 2005 and Homie Spumoni in 2006, in which she played Alli, the girlfriend of the character Renato/Leroy portrayed by Donald Faison, under the direction of Mike Cerron.
In 2008, Sigler appeared as herself across 13 episodes of the fifth and sixth seasons of the HBO series Entourage, initially as the love interest of the character Sal "Turtle" Assante, played by Jerry Ferrara. That same year she guest-starred as Jillian in the How I Met Your Mother episode "Woooo!" on November 17, and on December 6 she appeared in the Saturday Night Live Digital Short "Jizz in My Pants" by the Lonely Island. In 2009, she starred in the mystery-thriller film Beneath the Dark, which had carried the working title Wake, and appeared in a five-episode arc on ABC's Ugly Betty. From 2012 to 2013 she was a main cast member on the series Guys with Kids. In 2019 she appeared on the game show Pyramid alongside fellow Sopranos actor Steve Schirripa, and in 2020 she starred as a featured player in the Adult Swim sitcom Beef House.
In 2001, Sigler released her sole studio album, Here to Heaven, a teen pop record featuring the single "Cry Baby." In 2012 she collaborated with Romeo Santos on the single "You" and appeared in its music video. Also in 2002, she co-authored the memoir Wise Girl: What I've Learned About Life, Love, and Loss. In 2024, she launched a podcast called MeSsy with actress Christina Applegate, centered on their friendship and their shared diagnoses of multiple sclerosis.
Sigler married manager Abraxas "A.J." DiScala on July 11, 2003, temporarily taking the surname DiScala. The couple separated in September 2005, after which she resumed her maiden name. She later dated restaurateur Scott Sartiano from 2006 to 2008 and subsequently dated Jerry Ferrara, whom she had met on the set of Entourage; that relationship ended in 2009. She also dated football player Mark Sanchez. In 2012 she began a relationship with baseball player Cutter Dykstra, son of former Major League Baseball player Lenny Dykstra. The two became engaged on January 28, 2013, announced a pregnancy in February 2013, and welcomed their first son on August 28, 2013. They married in Palm Springs, California, on January 16, 2016, and their second son was born on January 15, 2018.
In January 2016, Sigler disclosed that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 20. In 2000, while filming Campfire Stories in Hamburg, New Jersey, she experienced temporary paralysis from the waist down, a symptom that was initially misdiagnosed as Lyme disease before being correctly attributed to multiple sclerosis. In 2023, pharmaceutical company Novartis cast her in a television commercial for their multiple sclerosis drug Kesimpta. In 2008, Sigler traveled to Israel through the Birthright Israel program, describing the experience as deepening her understanding of her Jewish heritage.
