James Scully

James Nicholas Scully is an American actor born on April 19, 1992, in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Driscoll Middle School and Lee High School's North East School of the Arts, graduating in 2010, both within the North East Independent School District. During his youth, he spent time in England while his father was stationed there with the United States Air Force. Scully later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater from Otterbein University. Before pursuing acting full-time, he worked as a cycling instructor at SWERVE Fitness for three and a half years.

Prior to relocating to Los Angeles, Scully lived in New York and performed Off-Broadway. His on-screen debut came in 2016 with the web drama series Sublets, after which he made appearances in television series including Quantico and 9-1-1. He also completed commercial work for Outback Steakhouse and appeared in a public service announcement about Vicodin abuse alongside Riverdale actress Camila Mendes.

Scully gained wider recognition in 2018 when he took on the lead role of JD in the Paramount Network series Heathers. In January 2019, he was cast as Forty Quinn in the second season of the Netflix thriller series You. In 2022, he portrayed Charlie, one of the central love interests, in the Hulu film Fire Island. That same year, Scully entered into a relationship with Julio Torres.

In 2024, Scully made his Broadway debut in Oh, Mary!, a comedic play in which he portrays a character identified over the course of the show as John Wilkes Booth. The production transferred to Broadway in July 2024, representing Scully's first appearance on a Broadway stage. The show is listed among his verified Broadway credits under the title Mary, Mary.
