James Saito is an American actor born in Los Angeles, California, whose career spans Broadway, film, and television. He graduated from Hamilton High School in Los Angeles and earned a degree in theater from the University of California, Los Angeles. He subsequently trained with actress Uta Hagen at HB Studio in New York City and was among the final group of students to study with Sanford Meisner, first on the island of Bequia in the Grenadines and later in North Hollywood. His parents are of Japanese descent.

Saito made his mark on Broadway between 1996 and 2002, appearing in Golden Child, the musical Flower Drum Song, and The King and I. Beyond Broadway, his stage work earned him an OBIE Award for his performance in Durango at the Public Theater in New York City.

On screen, Saito is widely recognized for playing the original Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. His film credits include Die Hard with a Vengeance, The Devil's Advocate, Henry Fool, Home Alone 3, The Thomas Crown Affair, Pearl Harbor, Life of Pi, Big Eyes, While We're Young, I Think I Love My Wife, Wilson, Hot Dog...The Movie, and the Netflix productions Always Be My Maybe, in which he played Harry Kim, and Love Hard, in which he appeared as Bob Lin.

His television work is extensive. He portrayed Dr. Chen in the ABC series Eli Stone and Kenji in the Amazon anthology series Modern Love. Additional television credits include The Company You Keep, Grey's Anatomy, Altered Carbon, Prodigal Son, Broad City, At Home with Amy Sedaris, Elementary, Instinct, Iron Fist, The Deuce, Paterno, House of Cards, Madam Secretary, Hawaii Five-0, Person of Interest, 30 Rock, Blue Bloods, Rubicon, The Unit, Too Big to Fail, One Life to Live, As the World Turns, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order, Sex and the City, Miami Vice, Heroes and Villains as Tokugawa Ieyasu, The Young and the Restless, Blood & Orchids, MacGyver, Hart to Hart, The Greatest American Hero, The Incredible Hulk, M*A*S*H, and Farewell to Manzanar.
