Over the course of his Broadway career, O'Neill took on a range of productions that demonstrated his versatility as a performer. His credits included The Three Musketeers, in which he starred, as well as appearances in The Wanderer, The Melody of Youth, and Joseph and His Brethren, among other productions.

Beyond his stage work, O'Neill holds a lasting place in American theatrical history through his connection to his son's writing.
