About
James Hays Eckhouse, born February 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American actor whose work spans film, television, and stage. Before pursuing acting professionally, he studied briefly at MIT.
Eckhouse built his early film career through supporting appearances in several prominent Hollywood productions, including Trading Places, Fatal Attraction, Big, and Cocktail. His television career gained significant momentum when he was cast as Jim Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210, a role he originated in the pilot episode in 1990 and held as a series regular through the conclusion of the fifth season in 1995. Beyond performing, he also directed three episodes of the series. In 1999, he appeared in Judgement Day.
On stage, Eckhouse made his Broadway appearance in 2014 in All the Way Home. In his personal life, he and his wife are the parents of two sons.
