About

Jake Lucas is an American actor whose work spans musical theatre, film, and television. Born in Atlanta, Georgia to Ed and Karri Lucas, he relocated with his family to New York City at the age of three. His parents operate a software consulting company. Lucas began performing at a young age, singing with the New York Boys Choir and appearing in the children's chorus of the Metropolitan Opera. His operatic credits at the Met include three productions: Hansel and Gretel in 2011, and both Billy Budd and Tosca in 2012.

Lucas made his Broadway debut in September 2012, taking on the role of Les in Newsies the Musical. The following year he appeared Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons as David Whitaker in Far from Heaven, a musical with music by Scott Frankel and lyrics by Michael Korie. In that production, the character of his mother was portrayed by Kelli O'Hara. Also in 2013, Lucas starred as Ralphie in A Christmas Story: The Musical at Madison Square Garden and subsequently on tour.

In 2014, Lucas made his television debut playing John Darling in NBC's Peter Pan Live!, with O'Hara portraying Mrs. Darling. He then returned to Broadway in 2015, cast as Louis Leonowens opposite O'Hara's Anna Leonowens in the Rodgers and Hammerstein revival of The King and I. That production won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

Beyond the stage and television, Lucas appeared alongside Jennifer Aniston in the 2015 film She's Funny That Way. His younger sister is actress Sydney Lucas, and the two siblings appeared together in a commercial for Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, as well as sharing the screen in She's Funny That Way.
