Jak Malone

Jak Malone is an English actor born in December 1993 who has worked across West End and Broadway stages, originating the role of Hester Leggatt and others in the musical Operation Mincemeat. He grew up in Merseyside, England, where his grandmother's work as a theatre dresser first introduced him to the world of performance. His mother was a nurse and his father worked in a soap factory. Malone trained at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, completing his studies in 2018.

Following graduation, Malone took on the role of Dim in a production of A Clockwork Orange at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre. He joined the cast of Operation Mincemeat the following year for its inaugural run at the New Diorama Theatre, beginning a long association with the production. In 2020, a planned appearance in the UK premiere of Diva: Live From Hell was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Malone continued developing his work in Operation Mincemeat through subsequent runs at the Southwark Playhouse and Riverside Studios before making his West End debut with the show at the Fortune Theatre in 2023. His performance earned him a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical.

In 2025, Malone brought Operation Mincemeat to Broadway, opening at the Golden Theatre. The production earned him a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical, a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical, and a Theatre World Award, all in 2025.

Malone is queer and has spoken publicly about LGBTQ+ rights. He is in a long-term relationship with his partner, Jasmine, and owns an Italian Greyhound named Dracula, who became the first dog officially thanked in a Tony Award acceptance speech.
