About
Jacques Georges Aubuchon (October 30, 1924 – December 28, 1991) was an American actor born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the son of Arthur and Flora Aubuchon. He attended Assumption Preparatory School and served in the United States Army during World War II before pursuing a career in acting that spanned stage, film, and television across several decades.
Aubuchon's Broadway career ran from 1948 to 1954 and included productions such as The Madwoman of Chaillot, Cyrano de Bergerac, Charley's Aunt, Mr. Pickwick, and House of Flowers. His first Broadway role was the sewerman in The Madwoman of Chaillot. Beyond the stage, he accumulated more than 300 television appearances, appeared in approximately two dozen films, performed in hundreds of television commercials, and also wrote plays. His first regular television role came on Paris 7000, and he became widely recognized for his recurring role as Chief Urulu on McHale's Navy.
Aubuchon died of heart failure on December 28, 1991, at the age of 67. He was buried at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He was the father of television writer and producer Remi Aubuchon and the father-in-law of actor Dirk Blocker.
