Jacquelynne Noelle Fontaine, born September 20, 1982, is an American soprano, actress, and beauty pageant titleholder. She holds a bachelor's degree in music from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, which she completed in 2004, and a master's degree in Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California, earned in 2008 through the Thornton School of Music. She subsequently pursued additional vocal study with David Jones in New York City. Fontaine is a member of Actors Equity Association and is represented by John Miller of Pinnacle Arts Management for classical engagements and by Professional Artists for musical theater and stage work.
Fontaine first entered the Miss California pageant as Miss Ventura County, reaching the top ten. She competed a second time as Miss Santa Barbara County and won the Miss California title in 2006. At the Miss America pageant in 2007, she finished in the top ten and earned a preliminary talent award for her performance of Giacomo Puccini's "Vissi d'arte."
Her Broadway appearance came in 2013 with The Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, in which she played the role of Carlotta Giudicelli. The production launched its United States tour in December 2013.
Beyond Broadway, Fontaine has accumulated a range of operatic and theatrical credits. Her operatic roles include Violetta in La Traviata in Oregon in May 2011, Donna Anna and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni performed in Viterbo, Italy, and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Rogue Opera in Oregon. At the Thornton School of Music's USC Opera, she performed Pamina in The Magic Flute and Ilia in Idomeneo. She made her professional operetta debut as Kathie in The Student Prince with the Pittsburgh CLO. On the musical theater stage, she played Countess Charlotte Magnum in A Little Night Music at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, a production that ran from January 23 to February 17, 2013. She also appeared as the Ragazza in the world premiere of A Room With a View at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego, and as Anna in The King and I with Opera North.
Fontaine's concert and recital appearances include Sunday's Live on KUSC at LACMA, the Jacaranda Concert Series, the Orchestra del Lazio in Rome, the Marina del Rey Orchestra, the Redlands Bowl, and the Cal Lutheran Distinguished Speakers Series. Among her competition honors, she was a semi-finalist at the International Competizione dell'Opera in Dresden in 2010 and received the Loren Zachary Grand National Finalist distinction in 2011. Additional recognitions include first place from the Palm Springs Opera Guild, Western regional finalist and district winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Burbank Philharmonic Young Artist award, the Rio Hondo Symphony Young Artist of the Year award, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing Los Angeles Singer of the Year designation. Fontaine graduated from Oxnard High School prior to her university studies.
