About
Jacob Clemente is an American actor and dancer born on April 12, 1997, in North Greenbush, New York. He trained in dance at The World of Dance in Colonie, New York, and competed with organizations including the New York City Dance Alliance, earning recognition at regional and national levels between 2006 and 2008. Before reaching Broadway, Clemente performed in regional theatre productions of Toy Camp, The Music Man, High School Musical on Stage!, and Seussical.
Clemente made his Broadway debut at age 11 in the 2008 revival of Gypsy, which starred Patti LuPone. He joined the cast on September 2, 2008, as a replacement in the role of a Boy Scout, and remained with the production until it closed on January 11, 2009.
His next Broadway engagement was Billy Elliot: The Musical, where he was initially cast as the Tall/Posh Boy and served as understudy for the role of Michael. His second performance in the Tall/Posh Boy role, on October 3, 2009, coincided with the final performance of Kiril Kulish, the Tony Award-winning actor who had played Billy during the production's preview period. On April 3, 2010, Clemente became the ninth actor to take on the title role of Billy in the Broadway production, performing it for the last time on July 3, 2011. His third Broadway credit was Camelot, rounding out his stage work during his 2008 to 2011 Broadway tenure.
Beyond the stage, Clemente participated in the recording of the song It Gets Better alongside other Broadway performers, a project benefiting the Trevor Project. The track was released on iTunes on October 19, 2010. In January 2011, he appeared at CES as the host character Zoll for the Samsung keynote presentation.
Clemente attended Columbia High School in East Greenbush, New York. In 2015, he enrolled at Yale College, where he double-majored in Russian and economics and participated in campus performing groups including the Yale Alley Cats.
