About

Jace Alexander, born Jason Alexander on April 7, 1964, in New York City, is an American former actor and television director. The only son of actress Jane Alexander and her first husband Robert, founder and former director of Living Stage Theatre Company, Alexander was raised in New York and later attended New York University before beginning his professional career.

Alexander's Broadway career began in 1983 with a revival of The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, on which he served as stage manager while also taking on a small acting role. He continued performing on Broadway through 1985, with credits including I'm Not Rappaport. His stage work extended beyond Broadway to productions such as Six Degrees of Separation and the Stephen Sondheim musical Assassins, in which he portrayed Lee Harvey Oswald.

His screen acting credits include Matewan, Eight Men Out, City of Hope, Crocodile Dundee II, Love and a .45, Mistress, and Clueless. In the early 1990s, Alexander shifted his focus toward directing after studying at the American Film Institute. His television directing work encompassed 32 episodes of Law & Order, on which his stepfather Ed Sherin served as executive producer, and 18 episodes of Rescue Me, along with episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess, Homicide: Life on the Street, The Practice, Ally McBeal, Third Watch, House M.D., Prison Break, Arli$$, Golden Boy, and Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret. He also directed the pilots for Burn Notice, Warehouse 13, Royal Pains, and Three Inches. Alexander held the position of second vice president of the Directors Guild of America before resigning two months into the role, and was replaced by Brooke Kennedy.

Alexander married actress Maddie Corman in September 1998. The couple have three children, a daughter and twin sons, and previously resided in Dobbs Ferry, New York. On July 24, 2015, police traced child pornography to an IP address assigned to Alexander's Dobbs Ferry home, and he was arrested on July 29 on charges of downloading and file sharing of child pornography. An investigation of his computers and hard drives uncovered files depicting minors engaged in sexual acts. He was charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, offenses carrying a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison. In January 2016, Alexander pleaded guilty to both counts. That June, he was sentenced to ten years of probation and required to register as a sex offender in New York. The family relocated following his guilty plea.
