About
Isabelle McCalla is an American actress and singer born on June 15, 1993, in Queens, New York, who has been active on Broadway from 2014 to 2026. She grew up in Suffern, New York, and has a younger brother named Colin. McCalla attended Rockland Country Day School and began studying dance at Coupé Theater Studio from a young age, enrolling in ballet in third grade and continuing through high school. She went on to attend the University of Michigan, graduating in 2015.
McCalla's Broadway debut came in January 2018, when she joined the cast of Disney's Aladdin as Jasmine, a role she had previously originated on the show's first national tour. Later that same year, she originated the role of Alyssa Greene in The Prom on Broadway, having first appeared in the production as an ensemble member during its Atlanta premiere in 2016. During a performance at the 2018 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, McCalla and co-star Caitlin Kinnunen shared a kiss that made national news as the first LGBT kiss in the parade's history.
In early September 2023, McCalla stepped into the role of Maizy in Shucked at the Nederlander Theater, replacing Caroline Innerbichler. The following year, she starred alongside Grant Gustin in Water for Elephants, a Broadway musical adaptation of the novel of the same name. McCalla also appeared in Schmigadoon! and participated in the Disney Princess — The Concert tour, performing across the United States.
In February 2025, it was announced that McCalla would portray Elinor in Regency Girls, a musical set to premiere on April 10, 2025. Outside of her stage career, McCalla came out as queer and bisexual in 2019 on the Thank You For Coming Out podcast. Her father is from Haiti.
