About

Irene Molloy is an American actress, singer, and songwriter born near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father, Edward Molloy, worked as a computer analyst for Amtrak, and her mother, Linda Molloy, served as a neonatal nurse at a hospital. During the 1990s, the family resided in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, where Molloy attended Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster. While still a senior there, she was cast in a lead role in the 1996 Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Whistle Down the Wind. During that same period, she performed with the Rainbow Connection in Philadelphia. Following her graduation from Archbishop Wood in June 1996, she moved to New York City.

Molloy became a member of the Broadway cast of The Civil War in 1999, a credit verified in theatrical records. Her performance earned her a nomination from the Outer Critics Circle Awards for outstanding featured actress. Also in 1999, she performed Phantom of the Opera's "Remember Me" at an event held in honor of director Harold Prince. After her time in New York, she relocated to Hollywood, California, where she appeared in the film Story of a Bad Boy.

Her television work spans two comedy series produced between 2000 and 2004. From 2000 to 2001, she starred as Hunter Fallow/Becky Johnson in the series Grosse Pointe. She subsequently took on the role of main character Wendy McKay in Andy Richter Controls the Universe, which aired for two seasons from 2002 to 2004. Both series contributed to her recognition as a television performer.

Among her career honors, Molloy is a recipient of the Helen Hayes Award and received the Outer Critics Circle Awards nomination for her Broadway work. After returning to Philadelphia, she shifted her focus toward writing music.
