Anders Ingvar Kjell Kjellson was born on 20 May 1923 in Kärna, Östergötland County, Sweden, and went on to become a stage and film actor whose career spanned several decades. He died on 18 December 2014 at the age of 91, from pneumonia. He was married to actress Meta Velander until his death.
Kjellson's formal training began when he was accepted to the Royal Dramatic Training Academy in 1946. He subsequently built his career across multiple Swedish theatres before joining the permanent ensemble at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in 1964. His stage work encompassed a range of classical productions, including Hedda Gabler, The Wild Duck, The Beggars' Opera, and Twelfth Night. In 2013, he took on the role of the old servant Firs in a production of The Cherry Orchard at Stockholm City Theatre.
In 1966, Kjellson brought his stage experience to Broadway, appearing in Threepenny Opera. His film work included roles in Zorn, Raskenstam, and Jazzgossen. In 1978, he received the Eugene O'Neill Award.
