Ian McLean

Ian McLean (7 December 1887 – 1978) was an English actor who worked across stage and film throughout his career. Born in the late nineteenth century, McLean built a professional life that spanned both the British film industry and the Broadway stage. He is also credited in some productions under the alternate spelling Ian Maclean.

On screen, McLean accumulated appearances in approximately thirty British films, frequently taking on supporting roles. Among the character types he portrayed with regularity were police officers, a niche that placed him as a recognizable presence in the crime and drama genres of British cinema. His work in this area is noted in Geoff Mayer's Historical Dictionary of Crime Films, published by Scarecrow Press in 2012.

McLean's stage career extended to New York, where he appeared on Broadway in 1937. His Broadway credit includes Storm Over Patsy, marking his participation in the American theatrical scene during that period.
