Hugh Cross was a British actor born on 24 September 1925, who died on 14 May 1989. His career spanned stage, film, and television across several decades.
Cross appeared on Broadway in 1947 in a production of Hamlet. That same year he made his film debut in Just William's Luck. He followed that with a role in William Comes to Town in 1948 and Warning to Wantons in 1949. His film work continued into the 1950s with Seven Days to Noon in 1950 and Svengali in 1954. In 1961 he appeared in two films, The Court Martial of Major Keller and Highway to Battle.
On television, Cross took on a number of recurring and guest roles. He played Mr Brown in the 1977 television series Just William and portrayed Archie Weekes in Series 2 of The Flaxton Boys. He also appeared in the third series of The Gaffer, playing Colonel Cross in the episode titled Moonlight and Ruses.
