About

Henry Lascoe (May 30, 1912 – September 1, 1964) was an American stage and screen actor born in New York City. His Broadway career spanned from 1940 to 1963, encompassing more than a dozen productions across a range of genres.

Lascoe began developing his craft in the mid-1930s through work with the Little Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. His Broadway debut came in 1940 with Journey to Jerusalem, and he continued to build his stage presence through the early 1940s with appearances in Brooklyn, U.S.A. and Out of the Frying Pan, both in 1941, followed by Tenting Tonight in 1947. His career gained further momentum with three productions in 1948 and 1950: Me and Molly, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, and Call Me Madam. The Rugged Path in 1945 also numbered among his stage credits from that period.

Through the 1950s, Lascoe appeared in several notable Broadway productions. He was part of the original company of Wonderful Town in 1953 and Fanny in 1954, followed by the musical Silk Stockings in 1955. The comedy Romanoff and Juliet brought him back to Broadway in 1957, and he continued performing into the early 1960s with Carnival! in 1961 and The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui in 1963.

Alongside his stage work, Lascoe maintained a screen career from 1948 until his death. He appeared as a gambling boss in "The Case of the Singing Skirt," an episode of Perry Mason that aired on March 12, 1960. In May 1963, he appeared in "The Bard," the final hour-long episode of The Twilight Zone, which also featured Burt Reynolds.

Lascoe died of a heart attack on September 1, 1964, in Hollywood, California, while working on an episode of A Day in Court. He was interred at Montefiore Cemetery in Springfield Gardens, Queens.
