Henry Jines

Henry Jines was an American actor from Atlanta, Georgia, who built his career across vaudeville and stage productions in the early twentieth century. By 1913, he had reportedly spent approximately six years writing vaudeville sketches and lyrics, establishing himself as a creative presence in the field before his performing career gained wider recognition.

Jines appeared in a number of notable stage productions throughout his career. In 1917 he took part in Broadway Rastus, a revue produced by Irvin Miller, and performed in blackface, a practice common to the minstrel and vaudeville traditions of the era. He continued working in stage productions into the 1920s, appearing in Broadway Scandals in 1921. A February 1921 review in the St. Louis Argus noted his appearance in a show alongside Frank Montgomery, Blondie Robinson, Frank "Chinese" Walker, and Florence McClain.

Jines carried his stage career into the late 1930s, appearing on Broadway in 1937 in Swing It, in which he played the role of Rusty. The production marked his verified Broadway credit and represented the continuation of a performing life that had spanned vaudeville writing, minstrel-influenced revues, and theatrical performance across several decades.
