Helena Brodin

Helena Brodin is a Swedish actress born on June 11, 1936. She trained at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy from 1957 to 1960 and went on to appear in more than 40 films and television productions between 1960 and 2000. Her career spanned stage and screen work on both sides of the Atlantic, including a Broadway appearance in 1966 in Threepenny Opera.

Brodin's screen career began in 1960 with the comedy film Tre önskningar, in which she co-starred with Lars Ekborg. Between 1978 and 1982, she took on the recurring television role of Signe Svensson, the wife of an alcoholic, in the series Hedebyborna. In 1981, she appeared alongside Sven Wollter in Kallocain, a filmed stage adaptation of Karin Boye's 1940 dystopian novel of the same name. From 1997 to 2000, Brodin held a main role in Skärgårdsdoktorn, portraying the strict Nurse Berit Rapp.

Her filmography includes Hugo and Josephine (1967), I Am Maria (1979), Der Mann, der sich in Luft auflöste (1980), Peter-No-Tail (1981), and Spring of Joy (1993).

Brodin was married to writer and poet Gösta Friberg until his death in 2018. The couple had three children together.
