About

Helen Lindroth (December 3, 1874 – October 5, 1956) was a Swedish-born American actress who worked across stage, vaudeville, and film throughout a career spanning several decades. She was born in Sweden and later became active in the American entertainment industry, building credits in both theatrical and screen work before retiring in the mid-1930s.

Lindroth's stage career included work with the Boston Museum Stock Company as well as productions in New York City. Her Broadway appearances took place between 1909 and 1910 and encompassed three productions: Springtime (1909), The Nest Egg (1910), and The Call of the Cricket (1910). Beyond Broadway, she partnered with actress Emma Dunn in a vaudeville act that headlined on the Orpheum Circuit.

Her transition into film began in 1911 with a one-reel production for the Kalem Company, and she accumulated 96 screen credits over the course of her film career. Her earliest credited screen appearance was in Battle of Pottsburg Bridge in 1912, after which she worked steadily through the silent era and into the sound period. Among her notable film appearances were A Battle of Wits (1912), The Menace of Fate (1914), The Black Crook (1916), Shadows of Suspicion (1919), The Way of a Maid (1921), and Unguarded Women (1924). She also appeared in the 1925 film adaptation of The Swan and in The Song and Dance Man (1926), a production associated with George M. Cohan. In addition to her work at Kalem, Lindroth worked with Famous Players.

Lindroth stepped away from acting around 1936 and became affiliated with the Christian Science Benevolent Association in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, a connection she maintained until retiring from that work in 1953. She died in Boston, Massachusetts on October 5, 1956, at the age of 82.
