About

Helen Howard was an American actress whose career spanned both the stage and screen in the early twentieth century. She made her Broadway appearance in 1906, taking part in the production of Her Honor, the Mayor.

Howard subsequently built a substantial presence in silent film, with her screen work concentrated primarily in the late 1910s and the 1920s. She appeared in a number of westerns during this period, contributing to one of the most popular genres of the era. Her film work began at least as early as 1917 with The Sea Master and continued through the following decade.

Among her screen credits are The Midnight Trail, The Primitive Woman, and The Ghost of Rosy Taylor, all from 1918, as well as Brass Buttons in 1919. The early 1920s brought several additional roles, including Blind Youth, The Little Fool, and The Child Thou Gavest Me in 1921, followed by My Wild Irish Rose, When Romance Rides, and Deserted at the Altar in 1922. Howard appeared in Captain Blood in 1924 and Quick Change in 1925, with The First Auto in 1927 among her later known film appearances.
