About

Hector Dion was an American performer born in 1881 who died in 1943. His career spanned both the stage and the silent film era, establishing him as a presence in two distinct entertainment mediums during the early twentieth century.

Dion's Broadway career ran from 1903 to 1909 and included appearances in Three Women and That Man, The Old Homestead, and Hearts Courageous. These credits placed him on the New York stage during a formative period in American theatrical history.

Following his stage work, Dion transitioned to silent film, where he accumulated a substantial list of screen appearances beginning in 1912. His early film credits included Just Like a Woman and A Lodging for the Night, both from 1912, followed by several productions in 1913 among them The Wrong Bottle, The Crook and the Girl, A Tender-Hearted Crook, and The Stopped Clock. In 1914 he appeared in The Shepherd Lassie of Argyle, The $5,000,000 Counterfeiting Plot, and Shopgirls. His film work continued through the latter half of the decade with roles in The Return of Draw Egan, Silas Marner, and King Lear, all released in 1916, as well as Fighting Mad in 1917. Dion appeared in three productions in 1918: One More American, The Wolf and His Mate, and Painted Lips. His final recorded screen credit was Judge Her Not in 1921.
