About
Harvey Thornton Clark was an American actor whose career spanned both the stage and screen. Born on October 4, 1885, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he went on to build a prolific body of work across multiple decades of American entertainment.
Clark established an early presence in the theater, appearing on Broadway in 1910 in Bobby Burnit. His stage work preceded a lengthy transition into film, where he would ultimately become far more extensively credited.
Beginning in 1915, Clark pursued a career in motion pictures that proved remarkably sustained. Over the course of more than two decades, he appeared in upward of 200 films, continuing to work in the medium through 1938. That volume of screen work placed him among the more consistently active character performers of his era.
Clark died on July 19, 1938, in Hollywood, California, from a heart attack, at the age of 52.
