Harry Bayless Stockwell (April 27, 1902 – July 19, 1984) was an American actor and singer born in Kansas City, Missouri. His Broadway career spanned from 1929 to 1951 and encompassed both book musicals and revues. He died in New York City on July 19, 1984, at the age of 82.
Stockwell made his Broadway debut in 1929 with Broadway Nights. His subsequent stage work included the revue Earl Carroll's Vanities, As Thousands Cheer, George White's Scandals, and the musical Marinka. In 1943, he succeeded Alfred Drake in the role of Curly in Oklahoma!, a part he continued to perform until 1948.
His film career began with Broadway Melody of 1936 and Here Comes the Band, a 1935 musical comedy. In 1937, he provided the voice of the Prince in Walt Disney's animated feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a role that brought him broader recognition. His final film appearance came in 1973 in The Werewolf of Washington.
Stockwell married Elizabeth Veronica in 1930, and the couple had two sons, actors Dean Stockwell and Guy Stockwell. They divorced in 1947. In 1950, he married actress and performer Nina Olivette, with whom he remained until her death in 1971. At the time of his own death in 1984, Stockwell was estranged from both of his sons.
