Harry L. Franklin (September 5, 1880 – July 3, 1927) was an American performer and silent film director born in St. Louis, Missouri. His career spanned both the stage and the early American film industry.
Franklin appeared on Broadway in 1904, with credits including Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch. He later transitioned into film, beginning his directing career as an assistant to Edwin Carewe. He went on to direct for Metro Pictures and helmed several films featuring Hale Hamilton.
Among the films Franklin directed were Sylvia on a Spree (1917), Kildare of Storm (1918), The Winning of Beatrice (1918), Full of Pep (1919), Johnny-on-the-Spot (1919), That's Good (1919), The Four-Flusher (1919), After His Own Heart (1919), Her Five-Foot Highness (1920), Rouge and Riches (1920), and The Secret Gift (1920).
Franklin married Mildred Dean. During his lifetime he was accused of smuggling alcohol in film canisters in violation of the Volstead Act. He was found dead in Hollywood, California, in July 1927 at the age of 46.
