About

Harry Antrim (August 27, 1884 – January 18, 1967) was an American actor whose career spanned vaudeville, Broadway, film, and television across several decades. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he began performing in vaudeville as early as 1906 before eventually establishing himself across multiple entertainment mediums.

Antrim's Broadway career ran from 1936 to 1945 and included appearances in a range of productions. His stage credits encompassed the comedies Too Hot for Maneuvers and All in Favor, as well as Ladies and Gentlemen, Ringside Seat, and 30 Days Hath September, among other productions.

In the early 1930s, Antrim relocated to Los Angeles, where he began pursuing film work. His screen career started with largely uncredited parts, with his first film credit dating to 1936's Small Town Girl. As his film career developed, he took on roles in several notable productions, including Miracle on 34th Street (1947), in which he played an uncredited, ahistorical portrayal of R.H. Macy, the owner of Macy's Department Store. He appeared in Larceny and The Luck of the Irish, both in 1948, and continued working steadily through the following years in films such as Ma and Pa Kettle (1949), The Heiress (1949), Intruder in the Dust (1950), No Man of Her Own (1950), Tomorrow is Another Day (1951), I'll See You in My Dreams (1951), The Bounty Hunter (1954), and The Solid Gold Cadillac (1956). His final film appearance came in The Monkey's Uncle in 1965.

Antrim also maintained an active television presence, with appearances on I Love Lucy, in which he played a shopkeeper, as well as The Andy Griffith Show, where he portrayed Fred Walker, owner of Walker's drug store. Additional television credits included Dennis the Menace and Green Acres. He died of a heart attack on January 18, 1967, in Los Angeles, California, and was buried at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in North Hollywood.
