About
Harlan Knight (1875–1940) was an American actor whose career spanned both stage and screen. He worked across multiple performance mediums during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, establishing credits in theater, silent film, and Canadian cinema.
Knight's Broadway career included an appearance in 1904 in the musical The Good Old Summertime. His stage work placed him among performers active during a formative period in American theatrical history.
In the early 1920s, Knight appeared in several silent films produced in Canada. Among these was Blue Water, a production that also featured Norma Shearer before she became a prominent star. Knight's participation in Canadian silent cinema during this era is documented in Peter Morris's Embattled Shadows: A History of Canadian Cinema, 1895–1939, published by McGill-Queen's Press in 1992.
