Harry Franklin Price, known professionally as Hal Price, was born on June 24, 1886, in Wauseon, Ohio, and went on to build a career spanning both film and stage. He died on April 15, 1964, in Los Angeles, California, from arteriosclerosis.

Price accumulated an extensive filmography, appearing in more than 260 films between 1930 and 1952. His stage work brought him into productions alongside notable figures of the American theater, including Leo Carrillo and William Gillette. He also toured for three months with Will Rogers in a production of Ah, Wilderness!

His Broadway career included the 1945 musical The Red Mill, in which he played the role of Willem. The production marked his credited appearance on the Broadway stage.

Price was the father of Mary Lou Price, an actress who performed under the name Lu Leonard and became known as a character actress and comedian.
