Hadley Fraser, born Robert Hugh Fraser on April 21, 1980, in Windsor, Berkshire, England, is an actor and singer whose career has spanned Broadway, the West End, film, and television. He earned a BA from Birmingham University and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music. In 2011, he was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
Fraser made his West End debut as Marius Pontmercy in Les Misérables in 2002, a production in which Ramin Karimloo understudied him. He made his Broadway debut in 2007, originating the role of Tiernan in The Pirate Queen. His Broadway appearance marked his sole credit on the Great White Way to date.
His West End career has been extensive. Fraser returned to Les Misérables on June 23, 2011, this time in the role of Inspector Javert, remaining with the production through June 2012. He had previously portrayed Grantaire in the Les Misérables 25th Anniversary Concert in October 2010. On October 1 and 2, 2011, he played Raoul de Chagny in the 25th anniversary staging of The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall, appearing alongside Ramin Karimloo as the Phantom and Sierra Boggess as Christine. In May 2010, he played El Gallo in The Fantasticks. He took on the role of Frederick Frankenstein in the UK premiere of Young Frankenstein in August 2017 at the Garrick Theatre, following a tryout at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle. In May 2019, he performed as Billy Bigelow in a concert of Carousel at Cadogan Hall. In 2022, he played Anatoly Sergievsky in a West End concert run of Chess and Archibald Craven in a concert of The Secret Garden opposite Mark Feehily. In 2024, he played Manny in the new musical Opening Night at the Gielgud Theatre. Fraser is also set to star as Lawrence Jamieson in a concert run of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the London Palladium on November 24, 2024, opposite Ramin Karimloo as Freddy Benson.
Fraser appeared in the 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables as the Army General of the National Guard. In 2006, he played Gareth in the Doctor Who episode "Army of Ghosts." In 2009, he played the recurring role of Reed in the first season of The Fresh Beat Band, a role later taken over by Patrick Levis. In 2025, he played the Good King in the live-action remake of Snow White.
Beyond performing, Fraser co-wrote the verbatim musical Committee with Josie Rourke, with music by Tom Deering. The work premiered at the Donmar Warehouse from June 23 to August 12, 2017. He also appeared at the Donmar Warehouse in Coriolanus alongside Tom Hiddleston from December 6, 2013, to February 13, 2014, and returned in December 2014 to play Stine in City of Angels, with his wife Rosalie Craig as Gabby/Bobbi and Samantha Barks as Mallory/Avril.
As a musician, Fraser has contributed to Scott Alan's releases Keys and Scott Alan LIVE and released his own EP, "Just Let Go," in August 2014. He has also written music with Ramin Karimloo for a band called Sheytoons, including the songs "Heading West" and "Driftwood." In 2012, he sang "Beyond the Door" on the concept album for The In-Between as the character Calicus.
Fraser married actress Rosalie Craig on October 5, 2014. The couple welcomed a daughter, Elvie, on November 1, 2016.
