Grey Henson

Grey Henson is an American actor, singer, and dancer born on July 2, 1990, in Macon, Georgia. He built his early foundation in performance at Macon Little Theatre, Theatre Macon, and Madison's School of Dance, institutions he has credited with shaping his passion for the craft. A 2008 YoungArts alumnus, Henson went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting/Musical Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama in 2012. During his time there, he performed in Assassins as Samuel Byck and in Sweeney Todd as Beadle Bamford.

His professional career began while he was still a junior at Carnegie Mellon, when he auditioned for and joined the national touring company of The Book of Mormon in the role of Elder McKinley. That tour launched in August 2012, and Henson subsequently brought the role to Broadway, where he performed it from August 26, 2014, through August 21, 2016.

Henson originated the role of Damian Hubbard in the Broadway production of Mean Girls, a musical based on the film of the same name. The production held an out-of-town tryout at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., running from October 31 to December 3, 2017, before beginning Broadway previews on March 12, 2018, and officially opening on April 8, 2018. Henson has described the role as a dream, and his final performance in it took place on March 8, 2020. His work in the production earned him a 2018 Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical.

Beyond those credits, Henson appeared in the Broadway production of Shucked and starred as Buddy in the 2024 Broadway revival of Elf, the latter earning him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical in 2025. Outside of theatre, he appeared in the Peacock series Girls5eva in 2022, playing the character Tate. Henson is openly gay and has been active on Broadway from 2011 through 2024.
