About

Granville Van Dusen was born on March 16, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. An American actor working across stage, screen, and voice performance, Van Dusen built a career spanning Broadway, television, film, and animation.

His Broadway work dates to 1968, when he appeared in both The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and Choephori. Those credits established his foundation in live theater, a discipline he continued to pursue throughout his career. For 25 years, Van Dusen performed the one-man stage play The Memoirs of Abraham Lincoln, in which he portrayed the 16th president of the United States. A 1992 performance of that production in Wausau, Wisconsin was broadcast by Wisconsin Public Television and remains part of its archives.

In animation, Van Dusen provided the voice of Race Bannon in the 1986 television series The New Adventures of Jonny Quest, and reprised the role in Jonny's Golden Quest, Jonny Quest vs. The Cyber Insects, and two episodes of The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. His television work in live-action was equally extensive. He appeared on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless and on ABC's Port Charles, and was the second actor to take on the role of attorney Walter Telford on the Canadian soap opera High Hopes. In the sitcom Soap, he played a doctor who develops romantic feelings for the character Jessica Tate, portrayed by Katherine Helmond.

Van Dusen also made appearances across a wide range of television series, including Kojak, The Bionic Woman, CHiPs, Three's Company, Matlock, Diagnosis: Murder, Walker Texas Ranger, Barnaby Jones, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Rhoda, The Eddie Capra Mysteries, Magnum P.I., Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and The West Wing.
