About

Gracie Lawrence is an American actress and singer born on March 16, 1997, in New York City, where she was raised in a Jewish family. Her father, Marc Lawrence, is a filmmaker whose credits include writing Miss Congeniality. Lawrence attended The Dalton School, graduating in 2015, and subsequently enrolled at Brown University before leaving to pursue a career in music.

From childhood, Lawrence and her brother Clyde performed music together, beginning at small cafés and clubs in lower Manhattan. The siblings eventually formed a soul-pop band under their family name, Lawrence, which has grown to include eight members: Sam Askin, Sumner Becker, Jordan Cohen, Michael Karsh, Jonny Koh, and Marc Langer, among others. The band released its debut studio album, Breakfast, in 2016, and has since put out three additional studio albums — Living Room (2018), Hotel TV (2021), and Family Business (2024) — along with live and acoustic recordings including The Live Album (2020–21) and Acoustic-ish (2025). In 2023, Lawrence served as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers' North American tour, and the band has made television appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Lawrence made her Broadway debut in 2009 in the revival of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs. Her next Broadway credit came more than fifteen years later, when she starred alongside Jonathan Groff in Just in Time, a musical in which she portrayed singer Connie Francis. The production premiered on April 23, 2025, at the Circle in the Square Theatre. For her performance, Lawrence received a 2025 Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical and a 2025 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical. She was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in connection with the production.

Beyond the stage, Lawrence has appeared in television series including The Americans, Younger, and Billions. In 2025, she joined the third season of Sex Lives of College Girls on Max as a series regular, playing the character Kacey.
