About

Grace Kimball (February 18, 1868) was an American stage actress who built her career playing leading roles, including opposite E. H. Sothern, and maintained a Broadway presence spanning from 1893 to 1913. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later relocated to New York City to pursue acting, where she studied under David Belasco.

Kimball's earliest recorded stage appearance came around 1888, when she played a maid in A Possible Case. Her association with Sothern's company began in 1893, the same year she made her Broadway debut, with her first role in that company being Fanny Hedden in a revival of Letterblair. Among her notable early credits was the first stage adaptation of The Prisoner of Zenda, in which she appeared opposite Sothern.

In 1897, Kimball married Laurence McGuire and stepped away from the stage for a period before eventually returning to performing. Her Broadway credits across her career included the musicals The Yankee Prince, The Bachelor Belles, The Balkan Princess, The Wall Street Girl, and The Passing Show of 1912. Her stage activity continued through at least 1913, when she appeared in The Passing Show of 1913. In her later years, Kimball and her husband made their home in Greenwich, Connecticut.
