About
Grace Hodgett Young is an English actress and singer born in Nottingham, England, around 2002 or 2003, who grew up in the suburb of Arnold. Her interest in theatre began at age nine, when watching her sister perform with Nottingham's Spotlight Theatre Company prompted her to pursue a career on stage. She completed her secondary education at Christ the King Catholic Voluntary Academy and earned a BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts at Bilborough College before going on to graduate from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
Hodgett Young launched her professional career in the role of Betty Schaefer in Jamie Lloyd's revival of Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre on the West End. The performance earned her the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Professional Debut and a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical. She subsequently spent six months playing Eurydice in the West End premiere of Hadestown before returning to the role of Betty Schaefer for the Broadway transfer of Sunset Boulevard.
In 2024, Hodgett Young made her Broadway debut at the St. James Theatre in Sunset Boulevard, reprising the role that had established her on the West End. She played her final performance in the production on July 13, 2025, one week before the show concluded its run. That same year, she made her screen debut in the BBC production What It Feels Like for a Girl.
