About
Grace Elliston was an American theatre actress born Grace Rutter in Memphis, Tennessee, in either 1878 or 1881. Her Broadway career spanned more than two decades, from 1899 to 1922.
Elliston made her Broadway debut in 1899 with an appearance in Wheels Within Wheels. Over the following years she accumulated a substantial list of stage credits, including Arizona, The Rector's Garden, The Helmet of Navarre, Her Husband's Wife, The Lion and the Mouse, A Blot in the 'Scutcheon, The Country Cousin, The Shadow, The Battle Cry, and Ourselves. Her final appearance on Broadway came in 1922 with The Lucky One.
Elliston died on December 14, 1950, at the Crestwood Nursing Home in Lenox, Massachusetts, and was cremated.
