About
Gilbert Wynne is a British actor, born on 7 September 1934, whose career has spanned theatre, television, and film across multiple decades. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, completing his studies there in 1961.
Following his graduation from RADA, Wynne began his stage career at Nottingham Repertory before moving on to engagements at the Old Vic in both London and Bristol. He also performed at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and with the Ravinia Shakespeare Company in Chicago. His theatrical work brought him to Broadway in 1974, where he appeared in As You Like It.
Wynne built a substantial presence in British television, with appearances in programmes including Softly Softly and The Life and Times of David Lloyd George. He took on the title role in Clegg and portrayed a Detective Inspector in Night After Night After Night. He also appeared as the main dance judge in the music video for Geri Halliwell's recording of It's Raining Men.
