About
Gideon Glick is an American actor born on June 6, 1988, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, into a Jewish family. His father, Michael Glick, is a dentist and researcher, and his parents, both professors, first met at Hebrew University in Israel. Glick has been deaf in his right ear since birth. He attended Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy and Lower Merion High School before relocating to New York City during his senior year to begin his professional acting career. He subsequently enrolled at New York University, leaving to pursue theater work before eventually returning to complete a degree in art history.
Glick's Broadway career spans from 2006 to 2018 and encompasses four productions. His professional stage debut came when he originated the role of Ernst, a young man romantically drawn to his classmate Hanschen, in the musical Spring Awakening. The production first ran at the Atlantic Theatre Company Off-Broadway before transferring to the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Broadway, where Glick appeared alongside Jonathan Groff, John Gallagher Jr., and Lea Michele. That same year, he made his film debut playing Slap in One Last Thing, a feature starring Cynthia Nixon and Ethan Hawke.
Following Spring Awakening, Glick took on the role of Howie in Stephen Karam's Speech and Debate at Roundabout Underground, which ran from October 2007 into early 2008. He then returned to Broadway as Jimmy-6, a member of the four-person Geek Chorus in Julie Taymor's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Glick and the other Geek Chorus members were cut from the production after Taymor was removed as director. During this period he also appeared in MCC's Wild Animals You Should Know and portrayed Jack in The Public Theater's production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, alongside Amy Adams and Denis O'Hare.
In 2014, The New York Times profiled Glick for his performance as Matthew in Samuel D. Hunter's The Few at a New York theater. That same year he joined the cast of the Lifetime series Devious Maids in the recurring role of Ty McKay, the season two antagonist, marking his first recurring television credit.
Glick's first starring role on Broadway came in Joshua Harmon's Significant Other, in which he played Jordan Berman alongside Barbara Barrie. The production premiered at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theater in 2015 before transferring to the Booth Theater on Broadway in 2016. His performance earned him a Drama League Award nomination. He subsequently appeared in the Warner Bros. feature film Ocean's 8 as Kyle McCallister and took on a recurring role in the TBS series The Detour.
His final Broadway credit to date is Aaron Sorkin's 2018 stage adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, produced by Scott Rudin and starring Jeff Daniels as Atticus Finch. Glick portrayed Dill Harris, the childhood friend of Scout and Jem Finch, a character modeled on Truman Capote, Lee's real-life best friend. The role earned him a 2019 Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play.
Beyond the stage, Glick's screen credits include a recurring role as Alfie in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and the role of Tom Cothran in the film Maestro. In November 2019 and again in January 2020, he played Seymour in the off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, first in a two-week temporary capacity and then as the production's lead. Glick, who came out as gay in seventh grade, married hospitalist Perry Dubin in November 2019.
