About
Geneva Carr is an American stage and television actress born on May 6, 1971, in Jackson, Mississippi, to George and Phyllis Carr, née Duba. She has two brothers, George Carr II and Joseph Carr.
Carr studied French at Mount Holyoke College before pursuing graduate studies in Paris and earning an MBA in Business from ESCP. Her early professional life was spent in banking, a career she eventually left to pursue acting. She trained with Jane Hoffman at the Actors Studio, and during that period supported herself through work as a waitress, bartender, and voice actress. She also appeared as "Mom" in a series of AT&T television commercials centered on rollover minutes.
Her Broadway debut came in 2015 with Hand to God, in which she originated the role of Margery. The performance earned her a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play as well as a Theatre World Award that same year. Carr is also recognized for her recurring role as Marissa Morgan on the CBS television series Bull.
