Joseph Garland Moore Jr., known professionally as Gar Moore, was an American actor born on September 4, 1920, in Chelsea, Oklahoma. He worked across stage, American film, and Italian cinema before his death on November 3, 1985.
Moore's Broadway career spanned from 1944 to 1951 and included both plays and musicals. His stage credits encompassed the play Dark of the Moon, the musical Mexican Hayride, Rhapsody, and Not for Children. He also appeared in Bells Are Ringing at the Sacramento Music Circus.
His film work included appearances in several Italian productions, among them Rome, Free City and Paisan, both released in 1946, and To Live in Peace in 1947, in which he played a character named Ronald. His American film credits from the same period included Johnny Stool Pigeon, in which he portrayed Sam Harrison, and Illegal Entry, where he played Lee Sloan, both released in 1949. That same year he appeared in Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff as Jeff Wilson. His subsequent American film roles included Clark Stanton in The Underworld Story and Luca Rossi in The Vicious Years, both from 1950, followed by The Girl in White in 1952 and Curse of the Faceless Man in 1958, in which he played Dr. Enrico Ricci.
Moore was briefly married to actress Nancy Walker.
